FAQ

Try this simple Qigong practice with Kyra.

  • Anything that keeps you from feeling happy, complete and alive.

    Belief systems, negative feelings, other’s expectations, bad habits, pain… these are all things that hold us back. We call them energy blockages.

    You may be aware of them, or you may not. Either way, they carry energy that can block you from feeling joyful and free.

    Learn to release these energy blockages and you’ll feel better.

  • Sometimes, it helps to talk about it in a safe space with others. Other times, it feels best to move your body and not talk.

    You may feel better after exercising, attending a great coaching session, or calming the mind through meditation because you shifted your Qi/energy.

    Qigong is an energy practice specifically designed to help you remove energy blockages, increase your energy and circulate it so it flows freely.

    With consistent practice, you can train your mind and your body to detect where your energy is stuck and move it effortlessly.

  • Qi=energy. Energy is flowing through you all the time. It flows through everything. It makes the flowers bloom. It causes your heart to flutter when you see someone you love. In class, you learn to sense/feel the qi in your organs, your bones, all through your body.

    Qigong practice involves exercises, visualization, and intention setting to clear, refresh, grow and store your energy. The masters say, “Where our thoughts go, energy flows.” Connecting your brain to the movement of your body in a meditative state is what Qigong is all about.

  • Qi + Energy

    Gong = Work

    Qigong = Energy Work

    It’s like Moving Meditation.

  • Yoga is energy work which can involve contorting the body to feel release.

    Qigong movements are much more subtle, so it’s perfect for people with injuries, pain, limited mobility, or those who want a change from the challenges of yoga. Of course, people with full mobility will also reap the benefits of Qigong.

    The combination of internal mindset shifts and gentle, external movements, along with the slow speed of practice, invites the connection of mind and body. There’s nothing to memorize, no fast transitions from one movement to the next.

    Qigong can be done standing, sitting, or lying down.

    Like Yoga, the lessons we learn through practice extend to the rest of our lives.

  • No, think of it as the grandmother of Tai Chi.

    Qigong is the name for literally hundreds of forms of energetic movement originating from China and Korea.

    There are medical, martial, and spiritual forms of energy work (Qigong). We practice the spiritual form which simply means getting in touch with our inner world and our bodies through intention setting and movement.

    Unlike Tai Chi, there are no forms to memorize.

    We stand in one place, facing forward and move our bodies gently to circulate our energy.

  • Tuning in to your innermost thoughts, feelings and judgements can be scary. It can be easier to move through life without listening to what your body needs.

    But, slowing down is where the goodness is. It’s where you connect with your body and realize how busy your brain is. Practicing Qigong will teach you to be comfortable with stillness. It gives you a foundation for living. Think of it as slowing down so that when you speed up again, you can do so with confidence, ease, and a greater sense of wellbeing.

    You may find it challenging to slow down and be fully present at first. Over time, your body will relax into the practice, happy to receive your love and attention.

  • This is why students value Kyra’s approach. She meets you where you are. Her qigong classes offer a safe, space for this self-exploration.

    Thoughts, feelings, and sensations are just energy. Energy, by its nature, moves and changes. That means you can learn to be free of what doesn’t serve you and boost what does.

    If you’re willing to be present with yourself, you may notice some parts of you that you don’t like. You may notice your busy mind. Or limitations in your mobility. Or negative emotions you’re carrying around. Or resistance to practicing Qigong.

    Moving your body through Qigong enables you to release negative sensations, thoughts, and feelings without analysis, talking or judgement. Making a habit of showing up for yourself in Qigong class teaches you self-compassion, love and forgiveness.

  • Unlike teachers who train you on a set of repetitive movements, Kyra uses her intuition to sense the energetic needs of the group. So, every class is different. Sometimes the movements are gentle and easy, other times they’re challenging. They’re always energizing and relaxing.

    She’ll guide you with a soothing voice, inviting you to use imagery and imagination to connect deeper to the energy in your body. She won’t correct your movements.

    She believes in creating an inclusive, relaxed space where you can just be you. The safety and acceptance you’ll feel from her invites you to create that for yourself. You’ll learn to release self-judgement to heal and love your body.

    You’ll learn to tune in to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. You’ll clear away stuck energy that’s getting the way of feeling grounded and peaceful.
